A summer visit to the Broads National Park is a must.
A short drive from The Firs gets you to Beccles, known as the gateway to the Norfolk Broads where you can choose your level of exertion!
Whether you want to take in the view from the safety of the bank, or get in the water itself, there are lots of different ways to enjoy these unique waterways. Hire a canoe for a rewarding bit of exercise with a view from the water’s surface, or rent out a motorboat for a more laid back trip with idyllic spots to stop for a picnic en route.
Walking Britain suggests some beautiful walks around the rivers and if you want to hop across to the other bank, the Big Dog Ferry runs between Beccles Lido and Geldeston Locks Inn – an eccentric, real ale pub, barely accessible by car and with a huge riverside garden.
