Southwold is our nearest beach – just 7 minutes and you’re at the pier! Go north for cliff walks or south to the family-friendly sandy beach for sunbathing, beach huts and ice creams.
Beyond that, towards the Harbour, you’ll reach the wilder end with deep stretches of sand and tufty dunes, perfect for a peaceful evening stroll away from the buzz. Try Covehithe for something a bit different with church ruins and the dramatic sight of a road falling right into sea, or Pakefield beach for another beautifully sandy stretch.
Further South of Southwold, you’ll reach Dunwich beach, famous as an area of coastal erosion where a bustling medieval town literally fell off a cliff, and remains in it’s resting place on the sea floor to this day. The beach itself is a long, wide, shingle beach and provides a fabulous stretch for walks beneath the towering cliffs.
